Cultural Fusion
Hispanics married to non-Hispanics? Yes! And the combinations can be cause for celebrations and holiday cheer.
One doesn't have to look too hard to find cultural fusion in action. Hispanics dating and ultimately marrying Americans happens virtually every day locally, across the state and throughout the nation.
This blending of cultures is evident even in the Governor's Mansion, where Jeb Bush, a member of one of America's best-known families, is wed to Columba Garnica Gallo, formerly of Leon-Guanajato, Mexico. Together, they have three children, extending the fusion into a second generation.
And often the results of these fusions are electric-particularly around the holidays.
The holidays, of course, are a time when families gather and traditions are on open display. It's also a time when cultures can clash or at least awkwardly adjoin, necessitating ample measures of education, adaptation and understanding.
