Rewarding Adventures

We have always thought that publishing Ahora Orlando was a wonderful quixotic experience-one filled with ups and downs, winding roads, wild adventures and, ultimately, success.

Yet, we never thought we would be part of something called the Don Quixote Awards. Recently, Ahora Orlando/Creative Angle Media was named "Hispanic Business of the Year" (business less than three years old) by the Hispanic Chamber of Commerce of Metro Orlando and the HBIF-Hispanic Business Initiative Fund, as part of the prestigious Don Quixote Awards, which recognize entrepreneurial excellence. As publishers of Ahora Orlando, as well as owners of Creative Angle Media, LLC, we graciously accepted the award. A committee ranked the candidates on four key attributes: company financial success/growth, company innovation, demonstrated leadership and community involvement. We were very honored to receive such a prestigious award, especially considering that there are many other worthy companies in the Hispanic community.

Now, we can only hope that this momentum brings us more triumphs on our journey. In this issue, among the featured topics are a look at the performing arts of Central Florida, including interesting facts you likely didn't know about many of the groups; and a study of public-school education, specifically regarding the challenging Florida Comprehensive Assessment Test.
